Mobile phone services will be disrupted for 5 hours on Wednesday as TRNC turns to 4.5G system

Service to all mobile phones, POS devices and vehicle tracking devices be interrupted for around five hours on Wednesday, March, 15.

According to an announcement by the Information Technologies and Communications Authority (BTHK), the interruption is due to the transition work to 4G/4.5G system.

The interruption will occur between 12.30am to 6:00am in region by region on Wednesday.

Below is the statement by BTHK:

Information | Technical studies are continuing at full speed to bring 4G/4.5G new generation mobile communication technologies to life in our country. Within the scope of these studies, it is essential to change and rearrange the frequency channels leased to mobile operators. Accordingly, the reorganization of the regional frequency channels will be carried out between the hours of 00:30-06:00 on March 15, 2023. While the frequency channels are being arranged, we respect that Cyprus Mobile Telecommunication (KKTCELL) and Vodafone Mobile Operations (TELSÄ°M) subscribers (all subscribers receiving service from local operators in our country) may experience interruptions in mobile communication services (mobile phones, POS devices, vehicle tracking devices, etc.) on the said date and time. we announce to the public.
