Man assaults Turkish Cypriot man in road rage incident, found to be illegal in TRNC

A Turkish man has been detained for assaulting a Turkish Cypriot man in a road rage incident in Lefkosa on Wednesday.

The suspect named only as MK had at around 1:00pm on Wednesday September, 13 assaulted a 51 years old man following an argument while driving on the Dr. Fazıl Küçük Boulevard in Lefkosa.

He was brought to court on Thursday on charges of "serious damage, assault and intentional damage".

Police said he severely beat the man, broke his cheekbone, and then damaging the man's vehicle.

Police said further investigation revealed that the suspect had  been living illegally in the country for more than 2 months since July 17, 2023.

The judge ordered the suspect to be detained in prison for a period not exceeding one month.
