TRNC authorities confiscate food items and meat from markets in Girne
Several products were seized from 4 butchers and 1 African market inspected by the Veterinary Department and the Anti-Smuggling Customs Branch in Girne on Saturday.
Upon
the notice received on Friday, the Veterinary Office, in cooperation
with the Kyrenia Municipality Health Branch and the Veterinary Office,
raided a market in Girne.
According to information provided by the Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources, 113 kilograms of unlabeled turkey wings, 7 herring fish, and 48 kilograms of frozen chicken, which were found to have been stored in unhealthy conditions, were destroyed in a business.
These products were determined to have arrived in the country duty-free.
Many products for which entry documents into the country were not declared were also seized by the Anti-Smuggling Customs Branch for further investigation.
The confiscated products are as follows:
1-Brown Beans (24 Packs)
2-Chin-Chın (7 Packs)
3-Turkey Wings (13 Packs)
4- Dried Fish (6 Pieces)
5-Catfish (5 Pieces)
6-Spleen (15 Packs)
7- Tripe (12 Packs)
8-Blue Bay Brand “Crayfish” 60 gr. x 4 Pieces (expiration date is over)
9-Baked Pastry (68 Pieces)
10-Spice (13 Packs)
11-Dimes Pomegranate Juice 1 Liter (Expiry date expired).
