Man arrested at Ercan airport for stealing "anti-aging night serum, spatula and knife set" from Erülkü supermarket

A man who was trying to leave the TRNC was arrested by the police at Ercan airport for stealing from a supermarket earlier in the month. 

The man named only as RM, a Pakistani, was arrested at Ercan airport on Tuesday, October, 17, at Ercan Airport while he was about to check out of the country. 

Police said the suspect committed a crime when he stole several items including "anti-aging night serum, spatula and knife set" from Erülkü Supermarket on October, 1.

He was taken to court on Wednesday on charges of theft.

Police officer who testified in court said the suspect an unknown person on October, 1, 2023 stole an anti-aging night serum worth 362 TL, a food spatula worth 126 TL and a knife set worth 152 TL from the supermarket cash register without paying, after putting them in his bag.

Police said the incident was reported on October 9, and in the camera footage examined, it was learned that the person leaving the market with a rental car was as the suspect.

Police stated that an arrest warrant was issued on October 10 and the suspect was declared a wanted person.

The suspect was detected and arrested by the officer on duty while he was leaving Ercan Airport on October 17.

Noting that the statements needed to be taken and the suspect's residence needed to be searched to detect the products in question, the police asked for the suspect to be detained for an initial 3 days.
