Man who tried to sell a luxury apartment belonging to another arrested at Ercan airport

A man who is not the owner of a luxury apartment located in Kyrenia has been arrested for attempting to sell the said apartment for 47,000 dollars.

The suspect, named only as AS, a Turkish national was arrested by the police and taken to court on Monday.

Police said the suspect had attempted to sell a luxury apartment belonging to someone else in Kyrenia and received 47,000 dollars.

Police said that the suspect said that a flat worth 180,000 pounds in Kyrenia belonged to him and that he agreed to sell it to a person named AK.

Police stated that AK paid 47,000 dollars to the suspect as a preliminary down payment in August 2023.

When AK could not reach the suspect for a while after making the payment, he decided to visit the Lefkosia Judicial Branch on September 12, to file a complaint about the sales agreement and the payment made.

The police announced that the suspect, who was declared a wanted person, was detected and arrested on Sunday at Ercan Airport while he was about to leave the country.

Police said that the suspect made some statements and that these statements would be investigated.

The police officer stated that an investigation will be made from the land registry office as to who owns the flat.

The police stated that the investigation was continuing and asked for the suspect to be detained for an initial 3 days.
