Man arrested for domestic violence in north Cyprus

A man who physically assaulted his wife because she refused him her credit card to spend was detained by the police.

The incident happened in Demirhan at around 9:00am on Thursday, Nov., 29 when the suspect named only as GM, a Turkish national, beat his wife on the grounds that she did not give him his credit card to spend.

The suspect was arrested upon complaint and an investigation was launched. He was arrested and taken to court on Sunday on charges of assault.

Police said he had an argument with his wife which led to him physically assaulting her. Police said there were marks of beating on her body.

The suspect, who spoke after the police, claimed that his wife had also beaten him and that there were marks of beating on his body. 

The police requested that the suspect be detained for one day for investigation purposes.
