Passenger's car stolen from Ercan Airport parking lot found two days later

A vehicle that was declared missing at Ercan Airport in north Cyprus two days ago have been found.

Recall that on Saturday, Dec., 9, a passenger's car was reportedly stolen from the parking lot of Ercan Airport. While it is not known who stole the vehicle, it was determined that the security cameras of the airport parking lot were not working.

On Monday, Dec., 11, police said they the vehicle was found parked at the airport with two people arrested.

Reacting to the development on Tuesday, TRNC Minister of Public Works and Transport, Erhan Arıklı stated that a relative put his car in the parking lot on his way to Azerbaijan and said to the parking attendant, "My fiancée will come and pick up my car soon. The key is on it. Be careful." He said that the parking attendant said, "No problem. The cameras are on."

Arıklı said, "A few hours have passed. When my relative's fiancee, Ömer, came to pick up the car, he saw that the car was not there. Ömer immediately went to the police and explained the situation. The police came to the parking lot and watched the camera footage. In the footage, they saw a Mercedes vehicle coming with two people, and the Mercedes was next to my relative's car." "It is seen that a person got out of the vehicle, got into my relative's car, started it and left the parking lot one after the other. The police determined the license plates of the cars and the descriptions of the two people in the vehicle and started searching throughout the island".

Arıklı said that when the statements of the two people arrested were taken, it was understood that the incident was not the result of theft but a simple coincidence.
