Turkish Cypriot woman and daughter steals gold from her mother's house

A woman and her daughter were detained by a TRNC court this week after they were accused of stealing gold from a house in Lefkosia.

The suspect named only as FO and her daughter, Z.İ., both Turkish Cypriots were accused of stealing gold from their mother's house in Lefkosia. 

Police officer who testified in court said on November 30, between 9:00am and 5:00pm, unknown persons opened the unlocked entrance door of the house belonging to one EO in Lefkosia without causing any damage and found 2,500 TL in cash in the bedroom, 1 22 carat necklace in the wardrobe. Police said they took 8 22 carat twisted bracelets and 4 full Republic gold coins and left the place.

Regarding the issue, the police found that in the examination of the security camera records around the house, on November 30, 2023, at 1:47pm, the suspects entered the main entrance of the subject residence with a bag in their hands, and at 2:00pm they left the residence with a bag in their hands. He stated that it was determined that they had broken up.

The police stated that nothing illegal was detected in the search conducted by court order at the residence where the suspects were staying in Famagusta on December 3, 2023.

The police stated that the suspect FO was the daughter of the complainant and the grandmother of the suspect Z.İ.

The police announced that FO stated in his statement that he went through his mother's closet to find old pictures.

The police stated that the suspect said that he did not see the gold and money and could not find the pictures.

The police stated that the investigation had just begun, that there were statements to be taken and signs sought, and requested that the suspects be detained for 3 days.
