Two men enters north Cyprus without going through immigration procedure at Ercan Airport

Two men who entered north Cyprus via Ercan Airport without completing immigration procedures were sent to prison by the authorities.

The suspects, ED and HNB, both Turkish nationals arrived north Cyprus via Eran Airport from Turkiye on March, 25 but entered the country without completing their immigration procedures.

They were later identified and arrested on Monday April 1, while trying to exit the TRNC via the Kyrenia seaport. 

They were taken to court on Tuesday, April 2.

Police officer who spoke in court said on March 25, in the immigration cabins in the arrivals section of Ercan Airport, two suspects living in Turkey entered the TRNC without having the immigration procedures completed by the immigration officer, even though they knew that they had to have their immigration procedures completed by the immigration officer.

Police said that the suspects were detected and arrested as they were leaving Kyrenia Port on April 1, 2024. 

They were examined from the security cameras at Ercan Airport and it was determined that after arriving in front of the immigration booths, they walked to the side of the immigration booth without taking any action. 

The police stated that the investigation initiated against the suspects was completed and requested that they be detained in the Lefkosia Closed Central Prison for 20 days until their cases are discussed.
