Two people stabbed during a fight over a girl in Gönyeli, one found living in north Cyprus illegally

Two people were injured after being stabbed in a fight over a girl in Gönyeli in the early hours of Thursday morning.

The incident between the foreigners happened at around 3:20am on Thursday, April, 25 in Gönyeli, following an argument between one MAB, 22 and AT, 21 over a girl.

Police in a statement said that one of the suspect, MAB got into a fight with AT which saw them hit each other.

During the fight, MAB stabbed AT in the back of his head with a knife he had illegally in his possession, and one CA, a taxi driver who tried to break up the fight and injured his two fingers, elbow, chest and foot.

AT and CA were taken to the Dr. Burhan Nalbantoğlu State Hospital in Lefkosia and were discharged after treatment.

During the immigration control carried out on AT, within the scope of the investigation, it was also determined that he was residing in the country without a residence permit.

MAB was arrested for "Injury" and "Illegal Carrying a Knife" and AT was arrested for living illegally in the country for a total of 122 days since December 25, 2023.

The police investigation into the matter continues.
