Mother who sexually abused and exploited her young daughters sentenced to 8 years in prison

A mother and her partner facing charges of sexually abusing and exploiting three of her young daughters have been found guilty of the crime and sentenced to eight years in prison in south Cyprus. 

Verdict to the shocking case was delivered by a Limassol Assize Court on Thursday last week.

Her partner was sentenced to five and half-years imprisonment.

The case which involved a 42-year-old mother and her 57-year-old partner who apparently were committing horrendous acts against the children – one of whom with special needs, came to light two years ago.

Both had pleaded not guilty at first, but after her co-defendant changed his stand and admitted guilty to some of the charges the mother followed suit.

She admitted to charges relating to criminal offences under the Prevention and Suppression of Sexual Abuse, Sexual Exploitation of Children and Child Pornography Act 2014.

He was convicted to offences involving psychological violence, assault with actual bodily harm and common assault.

The trial took place behind closed doors and imposed concurrent prison sentences with the longest one being eight years in the offence of sexual abuse of a child under 13 years of age.

The three girls were aged nine, 11 and 12 at the time the case broke out.
