Man scams buyer on Facebook, arrested in Famagusta with his bank details

A man who received money from another to deliver a watch through a business deal on social media has been detained by the police and will be tried for theft. 

The said fraudulent deal happened online December, 1, 2022.

The suspect named only as CTAN, a student posted a wrist watch for sale on Facebook page called Mobile Store Kolokasis.

He then received the amount of 3,860TL from his victim, S.B, a resident in Lefkosa via bank deposit on December, 1, 2022 but did not deliver the wrist watch to the victim.

CTAN was arrested and taken to court on charges of "making money fraudulently" on Wednesday.

Police told the court that the site became accessible after the victim deposited the money to the suspect's bank account.

The suspect was identified with his bank account leading to his arrest in Famagusta. 

Police said there were statements to be taken regarding the issue and that the statements of the suspect would be investigated and demanded that he be detained for 2 days for investigation purposes.
