Man assaults wife in Gonyeli

A Turkish man who was arrested for physically assaulting his wife at the home in Gonyeli will face trial for domestic violence. 

The suspect named only as Ş.Y, reportedly assaulted his wife following an argument at their home in Gonyeli on Sunday, August, 27. 

The woman named only as NY was treated at the Lefkosa State hospital for the injuries she sustained as a result of the assault.

The husband was arrested on the same day following a complaint by the hospital to police stationed at the hospital.

He was taken to court on Monday on charges of domestic assault which he accepted.

Police said the woman had bruises in several parts of her body.

Police stated that the investigation against the suspect was completed.

The court released the suspect on bail and ordered him to pay 8,000TL collateral in cash, report to the police once a week and bring a guarantor to sign a bail bond worth 300,000TL.

He will face trial in the future.
