Uproar as secondary school student give exams answers in Arabic instead of Turkish

There was uproar among Northern Cyprus teachers on Thursday over a student who wrote exams answers in Arabic instead of the Turkish language.

A secondary student, a non Cypriot origin, who was sitting in an exam for Information Technologies and Coding Course, answered the exam questions in Arabic during the 2023-2024 Midterm Exam period, on the grounds that he did not know Turkish.

Reacting to the situation on social media, the Secretary General of the Cyprus Turkish Secondary Education Teachers' Union (KTOEÖS), Tahir Gökçebel stated that “The child in the secondary school who met the jinn and fairies cannot write Turkish, but his Arabic is good. "To those who say they made this education system full-time, continue to pretend to sleep".
